Shabbat Shalom, Friday October 19, 2012

The event will be in Pittsburgh until February and the most exciting aspect during these months will be the collaborative programming between the Jewish and African American communities.  I believe the relations that we will help to strengthen will move our entire region forward.  I urge you to find a time to experience the exhibit.  You can read more about it from an article in the Post-Gazette (http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/life/lifestyle/wilson-holocaust-centers-team-for-exhibit-on-nazi-olympics-656865/).

Also taking place this past week, members of the National Young Leadership Cabinet had lunch with our past Chair, David Shapira.  It is truly inspiring to spend time with these younger leaders and to see their thirst for gaining leadership skills and Jewish knowledge.  I am really proud that we now have 11 members of National Young Leadership Cabinet, the most in my 14 years in Pittsburgh.  As the old Don Henley song, “The Boys of Summer” goes, “The future is so bright…you have to wear shades”.

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom.

P.S.  I will not be writing next week as I will be in Israel for the Jewish Agency Board of Governors meeting.  Looking forward to sharing thoughts with you when I return.
