Shabbat Shalom - Friday, July 27, 2012

The second win was on Wednesday when our Federation staff took a day from the office to go to a Pirates game.  Not only did the Pirates beat the Cubs on one of the most beautiful days of the year, our staff got to enjoy each other's company in a beautiful setting.

Wins are what we are trying to achieve as a Federation.  By winning in our fundraising achievements, we invest in winner programs and agencies to effectuate positive change.  By putting together a winner staff and winner volunteers, we make the improbable happen.

As the Olympics begin tonight, I know I’ll be cheering on both the United States athletes and those from Israel to be winners.  I do hope that all of you will consider a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. today to commemorate and memorialize the murder of the eleven Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics.   While the IOC will now allow a formal moment of silence as part of the Olympics, we can all stand in solidarity.

Shabbat Shalom.

P.S.  For those fasting for Tisha B’av starting on Saturday night, I wish you an easy but meaningful fast.
