Shabbat Shalom, Friday April 12, 2013

Today, I want to write about something very different.  This week, our Federation held a phoning where volunteers came to our offices to call our fellow community members to ask for their increased support of our Annual Campaign (which today stands at $10.5 Million).  We had a really nice crowd.  One of our long time solicitors, Milt Eisner, came as he often does.  I don’t think he’ll be embarrassed by my telling you that he is a little over 80 years old.  His strength and commitment are beyond compare.  And typically, Milt can look around most rooms and say that he is the oldest person there (or at least one of the oldest).  Just a little into the phoning time walks someone looking dapper as he always does.  Dr. Paul Caplan, who celebrated his 100th birthday this past November, showed up to get on the phones to solicit money from others.

We can all get involved.  We can all make a difference.  We can all participate financially in our community.  Maybe, just maybe, Paul Caplan has discovered that the secret to longevity is involvement in the Federation.  Let's follow his lead.

Shabbat Shalom.

P.S.  Hope to see everyone on Tuesday afternoon for iFest (Our community Yom Haatzmaut celebration) .  Also, It was terrific seeing so many of you last night at the fabulous opening of JFILM.
