Israel is at peace.  The Jews of Russia are no longer hungry.  More have moved to Israel and those that remain are cared for by the rest of worldwide Jewry. 

 

Purim begins tomorrow night.  It celebrates the saving of the Jewish people in the city of Shushan by the heroine, Esther.  As part of the celebration, we dress in masquerade and have lots of fun.  It is a time for the "Purim Shpiel", something Wikipedia (that bastion of high quality research) describes as "the use of satire or humor in publishing a "fake" newspaper article, blog post, television news segment”.
