We believe that this could be a model that could have the possibility of replication in other areas in the Pittsburgh region and in communities around the country.  Our guiding thoughts along with the donors who are making this happen is to "do it right".  It will be thorough, complex, and detailed with key metrics developed so that we can evaluate its effectiveness.

We posted the opening for the professional position for this new initiative on JewishJobs.com and I received an email from an old camp bunkmate now working as the head of a Jewish Day School in California who saw it.  He wrote that "I'm not in it for the job -- just interested in the hybrid: community based organizing meets formal institutions meets community planning. I'd love to hear more about it and if this is as new and innovative as it looks or if I'm misreading and it’s a bit more of a convention model."  (Sorry for the grammatical mistakes-this is the actual email)

Well, it is as new and innovative as it looks.  Pittsburgh is creating some of the really great new models in the Jewish world for service delivery.  Our agencies and our Federation are truly on the cutting edge.

Yet, while we innovate, we continue to stick to our core beliefs of supporting our local, national and international agencies to provide for the core needs of our Jewish community.

Don’t you just love this Jewish community?

Shabbat Shalom.
